The Richland Players Theater, 608 The Parkway in Richland
Thursday, Friday & Saturday - starts at 8 p.m.
Sunday - starts at 2 p.m.
Tickets: $15 adults, $12 students, military & seniors over 65

The Richland Players offer a rare presentation of Kurt Vonnegut Jr’s Happy Birthday, Wanda June. Directed by James Callaghan and Produced by Will Thurston, The Richland Players are performing the only current production of this play in the world. This is a unique opportunity to witness a show that revisits not only the history of The Richland Players but of our community itself.

The play tells the story of the brutish Harold Ryan, a war hero and hunter extraordinaire, who returns home unannounced on his birthday after being presumed dead for the past 7 years. The house is empty except for his son Paul who does not recognize him and a strange birthday cake reading “Happy Birthday, Wanda June.” Who is Wanda June?

This, and many more difficult questions soon face the staunch Harold Ryan who's welcome home is not as he imagined. He finds that in his absence the nation has undergone a social revolution - the late 60’s. His son is anything but masculine, and his wife Penelope has educated/enlightened herself and is engaged to a gentle doctor. And the question still remains - who is Wanda June?
