Rivers of Ink will provide authors of the Mid-Columbia region a full-blown writers' conference. This year our workshops fall into three categories: Honing Your Craft, Publishing & Marketing, and Genre Specific and features three great keynote speakers: Kathleen Flinnekin, Maureen McQuerry & Steve Wallenfels. New this year is the writing contest. Write your best query letter. Top five winners will be sent to an agent for review, who will chose the top prize winner. Tri-Cities International Fantastic Film Festival - October 10-12, 18-20The purpose of the Tri-Cities International Fantastic Film Festival (TCIF3) is to spotlight independent films made by film makers with limited budgets, but unlimited imagination. This is your opportunity to view independent films!
They will be showing both feature-length and short movies in Richland over the weekends of October 11-12 and 18-20. The first weekend will include feature-length and indie films while the following weekend will feature sci-fi films on Friday, horror films on Sunday and animation short films on Sunday. There will be a sneak peek at the the Roxy in Downtown Kennewick starting at 6:30 p.m.
Locations: ACT Theatre in Richland, Richland Community Center, Richland Public Library and Roxy in downtown Kennewick.

Uncork the Cure on Red Mountain - October 11-13Uncork the Cure is a national wine tasting series to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Guests are treated to 2-days of unguided exploration of Red Mountain's finest wineries. Bid on fine wines at the silent auction, located at check-in at Cooper Wine Company. Included in ticket purchases are entrance into and tastings at all participating wineries, a lanyard and badge holder.

Fall Fest and Footrace - October 12Bethlehem Lutheran School will host Fall Fest from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Howard Amen Park in Richland. Fall Fest is a community event. There will be a 1 mile fun run, 5k, 10k run/walk. Food and craft vendors. face painting, laser tag, bounce houses for the kiddos and much more!!!

LIGO Hanford Observatory Second-Saturday Public Tours - October 12127124 N. Route 10 in Richland
Come take a look at LIGO! At 1:30 PM on the second Saturday and at 3:00 PM on the fourth Friday of every month we offer free public drop in tours that will give you an excellent look at our facility. Tours usually last about two hours. Tours work best for participants of middle school age and up, but all ages are welcome.
