I just found out that the American Homebrewers Association is promoting its 14th annual National Learn to Homebrew Day today (which is almost over as I write this).
There are two beer brewing clubs in this region that include the Mid-Columbia Zymurgy Association (Tri-Cities) and the Yakima Brewers. Question: does anyone know if the Brewers of Walla Walla club still exists?
Beer making supplies can be found at Ice Harbor Brewery (Kennewick), Stein's Ace Hardware (Yakima) and at Grapeland Supply (Walla Walla).
Even Griggs Department Store in Pasco sells Mr. Beer kits which is what my son is using to get started in homebrewing (see my post from Sept. 30).
One of the major issues with homebrewing is about Sanitation and that is to make sure all equipment is really clean since yeast is a major part of the beer making process.
If you don't have a desire to make your own brew you can always sample many fine craft beers from local breweries, brewpubs, taphouses and bottleshops that are in our region.
