My family has always carved a pumpkin by removing the guts, well the seeds, and then proceeded on to cut the design through the sides of the pumpkin. But wood carvers such as those associated with the Tri-Cities Wood Carvers Club carve the exterior of pumpkins! I never thought of doing that...

Pumpkins and other gourds are associated with Fall and Thanksgiving. I recently drove down the street and saw a garbage can loaded with pumpkins the day after Halloween - what's up with that?
